The Fresh Diet - Day 5

TFD Day 5 was another great day for food! At this point I think you already know I'm going to say I was still hungry right? I ate some club crackers (so buttery, soft, salty and crunchy, mmmmm) when I couldn't take the hunger any longer. But for me that's not too bad. I haven't had sugar cravings since I started and I think thats because I know I get to have a great dessert each day. And also maybe because I'm too hungry for actual food to be worried about something that won't satiate me.

Apple and Fig Marmalade Stuffed French Toast with Turkey Bacon. Another great breakfast, there was some mint in the stuffing that I didn't care for too much, I don't like mint in my food, I never even liked those mojitos when they were super popular. Still a tasty meal.

Roasted Pear and Ricotta Crostini with Fresh Baby Arugula and Honey Drizzle. I wanted to try this just because. It was okay, the bread had gotten soggy from the pears and I think I need more protein in my snack anyway.

Chicken Salad with Grapes and Walnuts in a Pita. This was good, there was only one grape cut in half in the entire salad and you better believe I savored that grape, lol. I put extra mayo in the salad because that's how I like it, I don't think the extra calories will do too much harm considering how hungry I am.

Spiced Pork Tenderloin with Peach Salsawith Southwestern Orzo and Sauteed Kale. I don't know how the kale is made but this dish made me love kale! It was crunchy and flavorful and went really well with the pork and orzo. This was my first time having orzo and it tasted like a mix of pasta and rice, which is exactly what it looks like. I loved it. The spiced pork was a little too spicy for me but the salsa cooled it down. I would order again.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake with Maraschino Cherries and Pecans. I took a bite out of my dessert AGAIN before I took the picture. The problem is, I like to have a bite of something sweet after my lunch and I always forget to take a pic because I'm not eating the entire thing. So this was another satisfying dessert. I like the cheesecake better (like everyone else that's obsessed with their cheesecakes). There was a nice crunch due to the pecans but it wasn't sweet enough for me and the consistency also didn't make me feel like it was a decadent cake. So I'll stick to the cheesecake given the option next time.

The Fresh Diet - Day 4

TFD Day 4 was another delicious day. I love eating this food, I just wish there was more of it. I am hungry again. I know that I was overeating for the last year since I had my son so I expected to be a little hungry but I'm surprised at just how hungry I am. This must be saying a lot about how I was previously eating, eek. I had a few bites of my husbands dinner again while I was cooking but it didn't do anything for my hunger pangs.

Pumpkin Flax Spiced Waffles with Toasted Pecans and Chicken Apple Sausage. Yummy breakfast again. The waffles were so good I can't wait to have this again.

Grilled Turkey Burger on Whole Wheat Bun with Lettuce, Tomato & Dijonaise. The burger was so juicy it made me wonder what I've been doing wrong when I make turkey burgers at home?

Terra Chip Crusted Chicken with Roasted Greek Potato and Steamed Broccolini. The chicken was so tender which is surprising after microwaving it. (I have a strong microwave so I don't go over a minute for any of the meals). And I loved the flavor the terra chips gave to it.

Greek Spanakopita with Spinach & Feta Cheese in Phyllo Dough. This was so good! Another soon to be favorite I'm sure. The dough stayed flaky even after microwaving and the filling was gooey and delicious.

Cherry Vanilla Cheesecake. These cheesecakes... they are so good and the portion sizes are actually large. I expected a sliver of cake but no I have an entire mini cheesecake with a flaky sweet crust that tastes nothing like diet food.

The Fresh Diet - Day 3

Day 3 on TFD was hard for me. I am really hungry I must say. But the food is so darn good that I have no desire to give up. For me I would rather eat less and it taste good. If I had to eat fruit and salad all day and be full I would fail in a second. I think it may take my body some time to adjust to the calories. I was used to eating at least 2000 calories a day and that was way more then I needed. I hope it won't take longer then a week though because my growling stomach is not happy. I did eat two spoonfuls of pasta I made for my husband. It's hard making dinner and not being able to eat it, but there will always be some type of struggle.

Sweet Potato Ginger Pancakes with Fresh Tangerine and Chicken Apple Sausage. Just delicious. I look forward to breakfast every morning.

Hard Boiled Egg Salad with Shredded Carrots, Wax Beans, Grape Tomato, Boston Lettuce and Radicchio Mix with Thousand Island Dressing. This was good but I needed more protein. Maybe once I get used to eating so few calories I will try this again but for now it just didn't feel me up at all.

Greek Style Meatballs with Feta Cheese, Mint, Parsley and Roasted Bell Pepperwith Whole Wheat Potato Gnocchi Arrabiata and Bok Choy with Edamame and Scallions. Ohhhh this was too good, the meatballs were seasoned so well and the gnocchi was fluffy perfection. I can already tell this will be one of my faves.

Gluten Free Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie. Forgot to take a pic but these cookies were delicious.

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. Those chocolate chips really took this dessert to another level. I loved every bite.

The Fresh Diet - Day 2

Day 2 on TFD was a great day as far as food was concerned, I was definitely hungry today though. The thing that keeps me going is that the food is so good, I don't feel like I'm eating diet food at all. So even though I'm hungry I can always look forward to my next meal because I know it will be delicious.

Caramelized Onion & Parmesan Cheese Omelet with Turkey Bacon & Seven Grain Toast. Delicious omelet and I'm not a huge fan of onions. But the caramelization really gave a nice sweetness to the omelet and the turkey bacon and toast made me fill like I had a lot of food and kept my satisfied until lunch.

Roasted Turkey and Green Bean Wrap with Honey Dijon. This wrap was yummy. There were cranberries and onions inside which were a pleasant surprise that added some sweetness to the meal which I love. The honey dijon was great as well.

Roasted Leg of Lamb with Red Wine & Shallot Reductionwith Spinach Couscous and Roasted Baby Squash. I am not a fan of lamb but wanted to try it. Maybe I microwaved it too long but it was too chewy and could only eat about half of it avoiding the super tough parts. The sauce was really thin and didn't have much flavor so I would pass on this in the future but the sides were really good and seasoned perfectly.

Grilled Canadian Bacon Over Baby Arugula with Fresh Honeydew & Toasted Pine Nuts. I didn't know what to expect with this snack but I was pleasantly surprised. The combination of crunchy, sweet and salty was perfect.

Raspberry Cheesecake. This cheesecake didn't taste like any cheesecake I've had on a diet. It was great and the slice was really large. The desserts are probably what will lead to me sticking with this diet long term. I don't love the flavor of raspberry that much in sweets so I'm not sure I would get this exact one again, I guess it depends on what else would be offered.

The Fresh Diet - Day 1

My first day on TFD went well. The food was really good but I did get hungry towards the end of the day. I ended up eating half of my dinner and dessert early and saving the other half which worked out well for me.

Tart Lemon Basil and Raspberry Corn Cakes with Pomegranate Syrup and Chicken Apple Sausage, this was delicious. The syrup was more water then syrup but it gave the corn cakes a nice flavor and I didn't miss having maple syrup at all. The skin on the chicken sausage is a bit chewy but still a tasty sausage, I would order this meal again for sure.

Grilled Chicken Breast with Baby Arugula, Orange Segments, Mango, Strawberries & Citrus Ginger Dressing. I'm not really into salads but I'm trying to force it since to me they are a part of dieting. But I didn't love this salad and will pass on it in the future. The salad itself was good I just don't care for fruity salads.

Thai Coconut Curry Chicken with Bamboo Shoots and Broccoli Bits with Mirin Braised Baby Bok Choy and Roasted Green Beans with Garlic Ponzu and Dashi. I totally forgot to take a pic of this dinner. It was really good though. The chicken was tender and the seasoning was really nice. The veggies were seasoned well also.

Spinach Artichoke Dip with Whole Wheat Pita Chips. I didn't love this snack but maybe that's because I love the spinach dip from Houstons which is probably a million calories. It tasted a little too much like yogurt instead of a rich dip so I will pass on this in the future.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, yum yum yum. They give you two cookies but only one is pictured here. These cookies were so good. Super moist and sweet and chewy. I am a sugarholic so this was definitely the highlight of my day.

Overall a great first day!

The Fresh Diet: An overview

The Fresh Diet  (TFD) is a daily meal delivery program. I have always wanted to do a program like this because I like the idea of getting freshly cooked food instead of pre-packaged, frozen food. That food uses too much sodium and preservatives for me. I have blood pressure issues stemming from my labor and delivery so that's something that's important to me.

TFD leaves your bag of food outside your door (or in my case the lobby of my apartment building) each night between 7p and 5am. There you have all of your food for the day including snacks and desserts. So you don't have to buy ANYTHING from the store. Very convenient especially if you have children or a busy lifestyle.

The plan I chose was the premium plan because I get to pick out my meals. I am a very picky eater so picking what I want is key. They do have less expensive meal plans that are less specific.

I have started with 31 days. I am going to blog daily for the duration of this first round and see how it goes.

The meals come in a lunch bag with ice packs and are individually packaged

Operation Get Skinny: The Fresh Diet

Aiden Turns One!!

Now that my son is one I can no longer call it baby fat, it's just fat baby! In comes The Fresh Diet. It's a daily meal delivery program that I am really excited to start. I would like to do it for 3 months but I'll just start with one month for now and see how it goes. I will be posting my journey here daily and by my 35th birthday in August I plan to be at my goal weight. 35 is one of those milestone years and I'd love to be able to say "I'm in the best shape of life" on that day. This is a journey I have started and failed many times but this time something feels different. We will see...

My goal is to lose 50lbs. Half of that is baby weight and the other half is weight I should've lost before the baby!
